FX-GPS is a handheld GPS device for police, EMS and every job that needs to know where its people are. A player uses the GPS item, the device opens, and from there they join a frequency, see their team on the map, set routes and follow a unit live — all from a NUI device that looks and behaves like real hardware.
Frequencies work the way radios do. Pick a channel and connect; enter a password on a channel nobody has created yet and you set its password. A second monitor channel lets an officer stay on their own department frequency while also listening to a shared backup frequency, so a call for backup brings everyone onto one map without anyone leaving their own channel. Job groups go further: every LEO sees every LEO, on any frequency, the moment their GPS is on.
Press M and a full-screen map opens on top of the game. Every unit is on it, grouped by department with its own colour and its own hide toggle. Search by name or code, click a marker for distance and direction, set a route with one click, follow a unit as the map recentres on them, or right-click to drop a ping your whole team sees. It replaces the native pause map, so there is no legend flicker, no "Destination" label and no blip name overwritten by a vehicle name.
Vehicles can carry a GPS of their own. A unit binds a code to the plate of the car they are in, and that car stays on the team's map even parked and empty. The plate is read on the server from the vehicle the player is really sitting in, so nobody can pin someone else's car to a police map.
Criminals get their side too. The GPS jammer is an illegal item: it lists the players within a few metres, lights a marker over the one you hover, and after a short, cancellable animation shuts their GPS down completely — their blips leave every map, their channel link is cut, the devices in their pocket are destroyed, and they cannot switch back on for five minutes. Every step is re-checked on the server.
Update traffic scales with distance. Nearby units update fast, distant ones slowly, a tracked unit at full speed, and a player standing still sends nothing but a keep-alive. Short-range blips keep distant units off the minimap edge, where GTA's blip limit would make them flicker.
